The passive voice

is made, was built, has been sent: when the action matters most.

be + past participle. Use it when the action is more important than who does it, or when we don't know who did it: My bike was stolen.

Add the person with by: Hamlet was written by Shakespeare. The tense is shown by be: is made, was made, has been made, will be made.
