Monday, 12th August Today we arrived in the Lake District after a long drive from London. Our campsite is next to Lake Windermere. It took two hours to put up the tent because Dad lost the instructions! In the evening, we cooked sausages and watched the sun go down over the water.

Tuesday, 13th August This morning we hired a small boat and rowed across the lake. It was hard work, but the views were stunning. In the afternoon, we visited a museum about Beatrix Potter, the writer of the Peter Rabbit books.

Wednesday, 14th August We drove to Keswick and climbed a hill called Catbells. My legs ached when we got to the top, but we could see for miles. Then it started to pour, and we were soaked when we got back to the tent.

Thursday, 15th August It's still raining, so we're going to stay in a café and play cards all afternoon. Tomorrow we're going home. I'll miss the peaceful lakes and the fresh air.
