Bath is a beautiful city in the south-west of England, about an hour and a half from London by train. It is famous for its Roman baths and its elegant, honey-coloured buildings.
Start your visit at the Roman Baths. Nearly two thousand years ago, the Romans built a spa here because of the natural hot water. You can't swim in the old baths, but you can see the steam coming off the green water.
Next, walk to the Royal Crescent, a curved row of thirty houses. The writer Jane Austen lived in Bath for a few years, and you can learn about her life at the Jane Austen Centre.
If you're hungry, try a Sally Lunn bun, which people have eaten in the city for centuries. In the evening, why not relax at Thermae Bath Spa? Its rooftop pool has wonderful views across the city.
Bath is small, so the best way to get around is on foot. Wear comfortable shoes, because there are lots of steep hills! The best time to visit is spring or early summer, when the parks are full of flowers and the streets are less crowded than in August.
