A cat from Glasgow is back home after an unexpected trip to London.

Last Tuesday morning, Mittens, a ginger cat, climbed into a delivery lorry while the driver was having breakfast. The driver didn't see her and drove more than 600 kilometres to a supermarket in south London.

When workers opened the back of the lorry, they found Mittens sitting on a box of cereal. 'She looked tired and hungry, but she wasn't hurt,' said one worker.

Staff took the cat to a vet, who read her microchip. This showed her address in Glasgow.

Mittens's owner was very relieved. 'We searched everywhere and put up posters all over our street,' she said. 'We never thought she was in London!'

The delivery company paid for Mittens to travel home by train with one of its workers. She arrived back in Scotland on Friday. Her owner says she is now going to keep an eye on her adventurous cat.
