Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to complain about a journey I made with your company on Friday 14th March, on the 17.30 train from London King's Cross to York. I had booked a seat in advance and paid £85 for my ticket.
Unfortunately, the journey was a disaster from start to finish. Firstly, the train left forty minutes late, and no explanation was given. When I finally got on, I discovered that my reserved seat was not available because a different, shorter train was being used. As a result, I had to stand for over two hours in a crowded corridor.
Secondly, the buffet car was closed, and the toilets in my carriage were out of order. This was extremely unpleasant, especially for the elderly passengers and the families with young children near me.
Finally, we arrived in York an hour and a half later than scheduled. Because of this, I missed my sister's birthday dinner, which I had travelled specially to attend.
I understand that delays sometimes happen, but I was very disappointed by the lack of information and the poor conditions on board. According to your website, passengers are entitled to a full refund when a train is more than an hour late. I would therefore like to request a full refund for my ticket.
I have enclosed a copy of my ticket, and I look forward to receiving your reply.
Yours faithfully, Sarah Collins
