Every Saturday, Ella goes to the market with her dad. The market is in the centre of Edinburgh, near the castle.

There are lots of stalls. Some stalls sell fruit and vegetables. Others sell bread, cheese, honey and fresh fish. Ella loves the smell of hot bread.

Today, they buy strawberries, potatoes and a big loaf of bread. The strawberries are two pounds a punnet. Ella's dad asks, 'How much are the eggs?' The farmer says, 'Three pounds for six.' That is cheap!

After the market, they drink hot chocolate in a café. Ella's bag is heavy, but she is happy. Market day is her favourite day.
